Fishing Bear - Your Next Stamp Friday Fun Project

Hello!

I know it has been quiet around here lately.  I was out of town last weekend in Atlanta, taking a Copic class and getting to finally meet some of my fellow past design team members- especially Cheryl from Ink Up.  I had a blast spending time with her and while learning from the fantastic Colleen Schaan.  I was sad to see it end.  This week has been  busy gearing for those moving boxes to arrive and start putting my life into them on Monday.  Ready or not, they are coming and I am having to pack up my beloved craft room. Then it's the task of unpacking all of it into a new room and layout. However,  it's a great time to purge!

Anyway, I do have a card to share with you.  Today is Friday and that means another Friday Fun Project with Your Next Stamp!

For this card, I am using the adorable Fishing Bear, paired with the current YNS sketch.  Have you checked it out and played along? If you do, don't forget to link up for your chance to win!

The image was colored in with Copics and kept pretty much to the sketch.  I did leave out the sentiment to be added later depending on the occasion.  I finished up the sketch using the fun YNS Sparkly Gumdrops.

Be sure to check out the other fabulous creations from the team and thanks for stopping by!!

DIY Fabric Checkbook Cover - Party Time Tuesday

I thought I would start today sharing with you a new sewing project that I tried last summer and wanted to re-visit - making a  cute checkbook cover.  I know! In today's digital world, who writes checks anymore? I still carry around my book for that one time I am needing to write a check, so why not make it cute?! :)  Now, I am no seamstress (so don't look closely if you are...) but this was simple enough that I would say a beginner could do it.

I used some cute chevron patterned fabric and a coordinating polka dot one for the inside pockets. I added a piece of chipboard on the inside of the pockets for a little sturdiness and it helps in sliding your register and checkbook easier.  The outside flower was made using the large rolled rose die from MFT, some of the polka dot fabric, and a hot glue gun.  I added an enameled embellishment dot for the center.

I think it came out pretty cute and it makes whipping out your checkbook better.  Er... um... ok, not really because you still have to write the damage anyway, but it will look nice! :)  I  used this tutorial from Swoon Sewing Patterns to complete the project.  Thanks for stopping in and have a great Wednesday!

Celebrate You Tag

Happy Monday everyone!

I don't know about you, but the days are running into each other with Summer break.  I felt today was still the weekend... (sigh) So much is happening in our family that it doesn't help with getting my days straight.  Just a short 2 weeks before we start living out of boxes and moving to a new home.  Excited and sad at the same time.... A new adventure though!

Today I want to share with you a fun tag I made for a little girls birthday using Your Next Stamps      Yippee Fhiona.  She is super cute and I thought she would be perfect for a tag to hand on the birthday present.

Here is a closer look at the tag:

I used Copics to color in the image and cut the tag out in a tag shape decorating the bottom with the end of one of my nesties for a unique shape.  I used a sentiment from SU!  to stamp at the top while using the flower stamp to create a background.  I finished it with an eyelet to string the ribbon through at the top and attach it to the present.

Be sure to check out all the fabulous stamp sets and accessories over at Your Next Stamp.  There is a huge sale going on that you don't want to miss!!  Thanks for popping in!

Sailor Girl - Your Next Stamp Friday Fun Project

TGIF!

It's another Friday Fun Project over at Your Next Stamp! Today I am using another fun and cute June  digi release of Sailor Girl and pairing her with the current sketch on the YNS Challenge blog.

I printed her out on X-Press It cardstock and colored her in with Copics.  I found some patterned paper in my stash that I am sure I have had for-evah from the Paper Studio.  I decided to use waves cut out with my wave die as the banner strips and added the sentiment from YNS Handwritten Sentiments.

Be sure to check out all the fun projects the DT has put together today on the YNS blog! Thanks for popping in!

For my project, I am using the adorable Business Bear.  He is perfect for Father's Day or any masculine card you may be needing.

I printed him off on some X-press it cardstock before coloring him in with Copics.  He is a fun image to color!  I added some fur texture by using a washcloth and some blending solution to dab around on the fur.  I made sure he was the first thing to color so I could do this technique without worrying about other areas getting some solution on.  I also highlighted a few spots on the fur to make it stand out and I wish I did a little more. I used the new Friday Sketch Challenge for the layout using some patterned paper from Theresa Collins and popping up the colored image.  I finished the card by using some old embellishments I have had to outline the stamped sentiment of  'Dad'.
