Hi-Ya! (Hambo Hoedown)

Wednesday already? Crazy this week is half way over! We have some family visiting this week and will have a few more friends staying this weekend! Full house for sure but our boys are loving it!

Being Wednesday, that means it's the Hambo Hoedown challenge! This weeks image is Wee Henry Karate from Hambo Stamps and he is adorable! The challenge is torn paper and this is my take on it.

I roughed up all the edges on this card while the main image and sentiment panel is torn.  I used my Copics to color in Henry and finished it off with some twine and buttons.  Be sure to join us in the challenge so that you can get next weeks image free! Be sure to link up on the Hambo challenge blog and check out the other creations the Bacon Bits put together!

Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a great day!

Game On

It's Monday for sure! Hard to get going and have a child home with a cold.  It can't get better than this! :)  This will be a quick post as I have family in tomorrow and just need to get it together! lol!

Here is a card made for my boys friend for his birthday this weekend.

DP is MME while the t-shirt die and stamp is a set from MFT.  Stars are Spellbinders and I used my sewing machine for a wacky outline around.  T-shirt is popped up as well as the stars and it is finished off with some black twine.

Thanks for stopping by and hope your Monday is great!

One of my Favorite...

Another quick card today to share... I have been enjoying some really simple "stamping" of using paper, ribbon, and a sentiment to make some great cards.

First of all... it's really hard to photograph navy blue! Or is it just me? I need to play around some more in my settings and such to allow for a better shot.  So excuse the poor photo...
For this card, I used some Basic Grey PB&J dp and the sentiment is from MFT's anniversary set.  I used my MS arch punch for the bottom border, my sesties for the main cut out, some NN SU! Ribbon, and some white sheer ribbon, and finished it with some mini primas  and stickles for the "bling."  I realized today that I need more bling! I've been trying to use a lot of what I have and realized that I was almost out of embellishments! What a shame that I will have to head to my local SS... ;)

I hope you all have a great Thursday and thanks for stopping by!!

I'd be Lost...

It's time to Hoedown with Hambo Stamps! This week we are using a favorite image I can never get tired of- a Lighthouse.. I just love Lighthouses!

The challenge this week is to use wood grain in your project. You can create your own using inks and your embossing folders or if you have it, you can use some balsam wood. For mine, I used some dp from Pink Paislee that was a wood grain style which I enhanced by using some darker brown ink within my embossing folder. The image was colored using Copics and I really wanted to leave a lot of white to keep it clean. I cut out the image with my Nesties, added some ribbon, and popped it up. The image was cut and popped up in a fishtail style just below.

We hope you are able to play along this week at the Hoedown! Did you know? Just for playing along and linking your project on the challenge blog, you automatically get next weeks digi image for FREE! How cool is that?! The only rule is that you must use a Hambo Stamps image and follow the challenge. Don't have any Hambo images? No problem! There are a couple of digi freebies on the site for you to try! Come play in the pig pen and don't forget to check out the other creations the Bacon Bits have come up with!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

You Inspire Me

Happy Tuesday!

I have decided that I would like my summer back and wait a little longer for school and extra curricular activities to begin.  : )  It is amazing how quickly your days change once the kids are back in school and there are additional dutied needed to accomplish your daily tasks!! We have been busy!! Homework amazes me everyday as my little 4th graders bring home work that I am pretty sure I didn't learn until around the 7th-8th grade!! Times sure have changed and so has one grade level!! LOL!!

With all that said, I wanted to create a card using MFT's Anniversary set along with some MME dp to create an inspirational image.

The papers in this MME pack are so pretty that I stamped directly on the dp to blend in with the image. I finished it off with some ribbon and embellishment from I think K&CO and some self adhesive pearls.

I am off to my volunteer duties with the Army today so my feet are already moving! Make it a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Flying Thanks

Another quick card made for my friend that is whimsical and fun.  MFT Die-namics Kite was used along with some twine and the cloud border die from The Cat's Pajamas.  The dp is MME and the sentiment is Green Grass stamps.

Thanks for stopping by!! I am off and running again today! My son is starting a Visual Arts class at the local University.  He is pretty excited! Have a great day!

Fangs for Everything- Hambo Hoedown

Happy Wednesday and that means it's time for the Hoedown!

This weeks Hambo Hoedown features the image Rattler along with the challenge of incorporating a knot somewhere in your project.

For my card I used some scrap oldies by October Afternoon, (I need to use and not hoard!) and decided to color block the card which is a 4x4 in size.  I colored in the image with my Copics and then cut it out.  I then popped it up on an oval cutout from my nesties lightly sponged with some Distress inks.  I finished off the card with some twine which I knotted vertically.  Here is the finished inside:

I mimicked the outside color blocking and adding it to the inside with the sentiment which I punched out using my SU! small oval punch.

Be sure to stop by the challenge to see what the other Bacon Bits created and if you participate, be sure to link up!! Thanks for stopping by my ramblings!

Thanks....

Where did the weekend go? My kids started school last Wednesday so this is the first full week back in the grind.  I do have a card to share with you so bear with me on my mini story here.  These last few days were actually filled with homework, papers to be signed, re-signed, emergency contacts updated, pay this, pay that, and anything else the school needs my chicken sctatch! : ) Extra curricular activities start as well.  I have one son started guitar lessons and art classes and one playing sports.  Goodness! There is never a dull moment in our household!  Below is a picture of my boys on the first day of school and of my son ready for his guitar lessons that start today.

But first I will share with you my card. It is an elegant Thank you card made for a friend who needed one.

I used some oldies here... Basic Grey Stella dp and the sentiment is from Green Grass Stamps which I do not believe are still in business.  The ribbon is some seam binding and black jute from the Stamp Simply Ribbon store.  I just {{Heart}} Sharons store.... The flowers are paper Prima minis used to complete the look.  Super simple!  Hopefully this will fit the bill of what my friend is looking for!

Ok... so allow me to brag...

First day of 4th grade

Thank you for stopping in! I hope you  have a great Monday!

Wine and Cheese

Happy Wednesday! It's a Hambo Hoedown day!

Today's image is Cheeses by Hambo Stamps
and the challenge is to use two of the Olympic colors in your project. My creation for this challenge was to do an actual project for a wine gift.

I wanted this to be of dual use by creating a wine tag but inside the tag, be a little related gift for your host to have. For the outside of this tag I used some dp from Basic Grey that actually has every Olympic color, although a shade lighter. I colored in the image with my Copics and cut it out with my Spellbinder dies. I then sponged the edges with some Distress inks while it was still in the die. This tag opens from the top which I was able to secure the tab with some Basic Grey magnets hidden under the ribbon running down the center. When you lift up the tab you will find some wine glass tags.

I didn't want to use anything really heavy so I was able to use some of my self adhesive cork punched out with my 1" circle punch and adhered to some Kraft cs. I then stamped on the cork using some numbers and finished the tags with some beads on the ring. I secured the glass tags with some jute twine tied in the tag. I made this so that it can be reused by adding a new set of glass tags you might find to give again!

The scallop edge was made with my SU! Scallop border punch and the top open edge border was made using my MFT Dienamics border die.

I hope you will join us for this fun challenge and be sure to link up to the Hoedown Challenge Blog! Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek into my creation! Have a great day!

Summer Memories

Hi everyone!

Well, I am back from our weeklong vacation to CA and we had a great time! The boys enjoyed the sights and spending time with grandma.  I don't have anything crafty to share today, (but stay tuned tomorrow for the Hoedown challenge!) but rather a few pictures to show from our summer.  If you are interested, keep reading, otherwise I hope to see you back tomorrow! : )

June/July was spent taking a trip to FL and NC visiting family and friends.  One being my new niece who was born in April.  After 16 years spent in Europe, my sister has finally made it back stateside so we can now see her family more often! The boys had a great time this trip spending half of that with some old friends and spending a week at the NC Aquarium for a camp.  Then of course, this past weekend was full with trips to Universal Studios, Disneyland, including a meet and greet of the Aladdin show cast as an old friend and theatre alumni is the genie, visits with old elementary friends whom I keep in constant contact with, and my 20 year HS reunion! It was jam packed to say the least!

Inking of You

It's Wednesday and it's another Hoedown Challenge! This weeks challenge is Tic Tac Toe.

The Tic Tac Toe grid is on the challenge blog so that you can see what you might want to pick for your three choices. For my card, I chose blue, charm, and twine. The adorable Octopus digi is paper pieced. I basically attached my dp to a blank sheet of paper before printing the image out. I then cut him out to place on the card. The beautiful dp is Websters Pages which fits this image perfectly. I used I {heart} 2 Stamp July sketch to get the mojo flowing. The charm is one from my stash while the twine is SU! And the doily cutout is MFT Dienamics.

I am off to CA today for a week so it will be quiet here for a bit. Thank you in advance for hanging on and being patient! Have a great week and thanks so much for stopping by!
