Hambo Hoedown- Monster Weight

It's time to Hoedown! And this week we need our workout gear because we have Monster Weight! We also have the challenge of following this sketch:

Here is my project:

For this, I made a little holder for two granola bars to fit inside. It can also double as a holder for cards since it is a standard A4 size. I used Basic Greys Lime Ricky collection for the holder. I then used my CB folder for the main panel while using a scrap MME for the center strip. I tied some around the strip and adhered the main image on top of my scallop circle punched with my Marvy mega punch. The main image of Monster Weights was colored in with my Copics and cut out. For the top of the holder, I used a The Cat's Pajamas die. The sentiment I love! I thought pairing that up with some food item makes it funnier!

Here is an inside view. I used some twine for the handle for easy carrying.

Just a fun little gift because really, I'm a foodie! Lol! I admit it... I love to cook and I love to eat good food.

We hope you play along! We would love to see what you come up with based on the sketch! Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek!

A Clean and Simple Good Fortune

Hi!

Today I am sharing a clean and simple (CAS) card that I made for SCS's Clean and Simple challenge yesterday.  The challenge was to use white and Rich Razzleberry.  Well, I certainly did not have Razzleberry, but had Purely Pomograntite which was as close as I could get!

I used Hambo Stamps image from last week  leaving it uncolored except for a light cool grey outline. I finished off the card with a Chinese coin and some mini gold dots.  Super easy and I really liked this color combo! I forgot how pretty Purely Pomograntite is! : )

I hope you all have a great day and don't forget you have until tonight to play along in last week's Hambo Hoedown before the new Hoedown tomorrow!! Come play!

Simple 8x8 Scrap Page

TGIF!
Whew! I am happy this week is over... It has been a sad week for us in our household. I mentioned that we had to put our dog down Monday and then on Wednesday, we got word that my sister-in-law passed away from Breast Cancer. It definitely has been a heart wrenching week....

To do a little non thinking crafting, I took a picture that I love of my boys from vacation and did a mini scrap page. I really wanted to keep it clean and beachy.

This was made using GCD Studios 8x8 pad of Ella Blue. This is a very elegant pad of paper, but this particular sheet is a perfect beach sheet page. I adhered the photo and wrapped around some ribbon that looks like sailor rope,(I don't know if that is what it is really called... Lol) and then attached a shell from that vacation to the corner. The lettering, corner spray, and the chipboard piece are all MME. I stamped 'Best Friends' using two different stamps that looked alike from SU! To make the words. The mini word 'vacation' is a sticker from SRM Stickers and I finished it off with a silver starfish charm and some twine wrapped around the opening.

Super simple and clean! Thanks so much for stopping by and taking a peek! I hope you all have a great weekend!

My Graphic 45 Design Team Audition

Good Morning!

Yup! You read the title right! I am trying for the Graphic 45 Design Team! I dug deep and pulled out my vintage side and went to work.  I am excited to share with you my designs.... grab your coffee or tea or choice beverage and check it out... it's a little long...

First up, baggage... we all have some but nothing like this!

Here is the front of my suitcase.  I am please with how this turned out as it came out pretty close to what I had in my head.  I used Graphic 45 papers of Botanicabella.  The trim along the top is some metal jewelry chain that put up some double duty.  (You will see further down...) Around that is some black trim from the local fabric store.  The words 'journey' is stamped on some of the dp with Versamark and heated with some white embossing powder.  The letters are from MFT's Banner Day set and punched out using my 1/2" circle punch.  I then popped up with letters using some black pop up dots.

Here is a close up of area decorated.  Here, I used some flowers from both Prima and Recollections.  I also added some seashells I found along the shore in South Florida while on vacation and some feathers.  I cut out some paper from Graphic 45's Communique collection and used my Tim Holtz Movers and Shapers die for the window.  I adhered it over the seahorse, rolled and tore a little the edges, and then finished that off with some black cotton twine.  I then added some tulle flower sprays, stamens, and images cut out from the same Botanicabella collection for additional dimension.  The metal sentiment is one I had for a while, but I do believe it is from Making Memories. I distressed it a bit with Tim Holtz hand sander and finished it off with some Ranger Alcohol Inks.

Here is a side view of that dimension.

This suitcase started off as a plain paper mache suitcase.  I really liked the idea of keeping the inside plain to give it that basic, old looking suitcase.  You can see here the hinged opening. The flower trim is  some trim I found at Hobby Lobby and felt it to be the perfect trim for this project.

Here is a close up of the luggage tag and hardware of the suitcase.  Don't you love that handle?

Next up, a little journey down memory lane...

This is a collage I made using a 12 opening collage tray and some photos of my husbands grandparents during World War II.  I only had 3 to play with but I made do.  I used Graphic 45's Commuique collection for the backgrounds and some of the details.  Click on the photo for a closer look. Also used are some Prima Flowers, feathers, and metal accents I have had forevah! The corner flourishes are cut out using my MFT Die-namic Fancy Flourish die combined with the feathers.  I used many features of this paper collection to make for some of the "embellishments" such as the newspaper in the 4th opening and the pen and stamps in the 5th.  Tags from this collection were also used in a few openings.  For the frame around my husbands grandmother, I used my Spellbinders die that fit around the opening and then used the next size down to create the frame.  I adhered that and added some self adhesive pearls, metal heart, and some tulle trim I bought at my lss.  For the Army title, that is a dimensional sticker from K&Co. while the metal Courageous token is from Tim Holtz.  I used my nameplate Quick Cutz die and stamped the year with an old SU! number set and finished that off with some mini brads.   The calendar represents the month the maternal grandparents were married and and that is a sticker from SRM Press.  The flower cut out is another MFT Die-namic die. Lots of different trim used throughout including more of that chain! :)  You can't see it, but I used some Tim Holtz Glossy Accents in Crackle for the top of the red stamp on the bottom.

Closer images...  Here is the top half of the tray...

Here is the  bottom half....

Let's see how we look, shall we?

Here is a hand mirror I altered that started off as a plain wooden hand mirror.  I used the Botanicabella collection to cover it front and back with Modge Podge and add some images cut out from this collection.  I added some flowers cut with my MFT Die-namics, Spellbinders for the top fluer de lies, and some feathers.  The mini flowers are some I have had picked up somewhere in the floral department! I wish I knew where so I could get more colors, but I haven't been successful.  I finished it off with some metal accents and ribbon.

But wait! There's more! Stay with me...

Scrapbook? Now, we know this is not my forte, but I refused NOT to do one! : ) Here is a picture from a few years back...

Again, this was made from the Communique collection.  This was a page that I wish I used a different pattern, but by the time I made that decision, I had adhered everything already! I used my Spellbinders die for the background of my photo and my MFT Die-namics dies for the paper roses, mini flourish, and grey doily.  I added some pearl flourish from Zva Creative and self adhesive pearls to the inside of the roses.  The 'joy' is a rub on from K&Co which I made a tag for it to be put on.  I added a large eyelet (remember those?) some ribbon, a mini calla lilly, and a corsage pin.  Here's my little secret to using pins so you don't stab the person you may be giving something to with one.... I use a drop of hot glue that has been cooled and use that as an end to the pin. Simple yet effective!  The letters and numbers are some chipboard alphabets from Paper Studio.

Here is a closer look of the roses.

Let's accessorize now!  And we are going to accessorize...

Here is a necklace I made using chain, (remember that chain?) in antique gold and black and strung some pearls.  For the accents, I first took some punch outs from the Communique and added some resin to the tops.  I let that dry over night and then glued the to the accents.  I then used those accents as the connections for the chains.

Close ups of the accents.

Now, here is what I do most of the time.... card making!

This card is made using kraft cs and some dp from the Bontanicabella collecion.  I sewed along the edges of the two coordinating dp and added some lace and ribbon along the center.  I then used my MFT Die-namic doily die for the popped up layer and another piece of the collection cut out and also popped up.  For the sentiment, I used SU! Fancy Flexible Phrases and finished that off with some black mini brads.  You have to have a little bling, so I added a self adhesive rhinestone to the ribbon.

OK! My final project! Time for notes! There is a quiz you know... HA!

Here is a notebook I made using a piece of chipboard from Paper Studio, scored with my MS Scoreboard for a deep impression, and covered with some paper from Bontanicabella.  I added some lace and black ric rack trim and again, a flower cut out with my MFT Die-namics die and finished with a self adhesive black glossy dot.  I completed this with an oval name plate over a stamped bingo card image from a set of Tim Holtz, some buttons, and velcro to keep it closed.  Here is the inside...

Well... that was my audition! I hope you enjoyed looking at my creations as much as I had fun making them.  Thanks so much for stopping by and taking a peek!! Keep your fingers crossed for me and I will keep you posted! Have a great Thursday!!

Hambo Hoedown Wednesday! Fortune Cookie

It's Wednesday! Time for...

That's right! It's another week of the Hambo Hoedown and you are not going to want to miss this weeks digi you can receive for playing along! It's called Fortune Cookie! It is so much fun and had so many possibilities to make something fabulous with.

For my card, I played around with the image and decided to make a bowl of fortune. I cut a slit into each cookie and slipped in a fortune to have it stick out and be able to be pulled and read.

I used DCWV Far East mat stack for the dp and sewed around the edges. I then used my 1 3/4 circle punch on a piece of scrap dp and cut it in half to create my bowl. I sponged the edges with Momento Bamboo Leaves before popping it up. I then placed my cookies randomly in the bowl popped up as well. The cookies are colored in with Copics. I finished off the card with one of the sentiments attached to a Chinese coin.

I hope you are able to play along! Thanks for stopping by my blog!

With Sympathy

Hello everyone!

I hope you had a nice long weekend to enjoy before headed back to the normal week grind! It was a whirlwind for us as we enjoyed the weekend, but yesterday had to put down our beloved 12 year old Border Collie after a battle of a few different ailments. So, yesterday was a long day but now it's back to the usual which I am glad. It will keep my mind off our dog.

I felt with what we went through, it was only appropriate to make a sympathy card. A simple card made with SRM Stickers. I just love them! I was never really a sticker kind of person in the past, but these beautiful, clear stickers changes everything! :)

I decided to go through my scrap stash because I really need to use them! I hate being wasteful so I save my paper if I feel it can be reused in something else. I do not know who made the dp, but I think it is a Basic Grey. The scalloped cut piece is SU! And cut out with my MS border punch. I finished off the card with the SRM Sticker, some ribbon, and a flower from Recollections. I added a bit of Stickles to the ends of the flower and some self adhesive rhinestones to the bottom. Super easy and now I have a sympathy card ready to go. Hopefully, I never have to use it, but it never hurts to have one on hand!

I am excited to share that I have completed my out-of-my-comfort-zone projects and will be sharing with you on Thursday. Don't forget that tomorrow is the Hambo Hoedown challenge! Come play along! I think you will like this weeks image!

Thanks so much for stopping by and taking a peek! Have a great day!

Hambo Hoedown Wednesday!

I hope your Valentines Day was wonderful! Mine was busy as can be with being the class mom for both my kids classes for their parties, so it was a lot of bouncing between the classes! Anyway...

It's Wednesday and you know that means it is time to Hoedownwith Hambo Stamps!

This weeks, our challenge was to incorporate either gold or silver into our dragon card. Well, for me silver is easy because I always gravitate to that color but I wanted to challenge myself to use gold.

I utilized some gold string and gold self adhesive dots for the corners. The navy color came out a bit over saturated in the picture, but the good looks good against that color. I was happy to have used gold.

The card also challenged me to use up some scraps from American Crafts I had for the center strips. The dragon image was colored with Copics and cut out with Spellbinders dies. The inside sentiment finishes it off with, "well yer are!" hee hee! I love it...

Be sure to stop by the Hoedown and play along for your free digi image and the chance to become the Hoedown Queen! Thanks so much for stopping by and taking a peek! Have a great Wednesday!

Love is in the Air!

Valentines Day is tomorrow! How did that happen?
Today I made a quick card using SRM Stickers
and paper from Basic Grey's Kissing Booth collection.

I cut out the hearts from the paper and popped them up on the card after adding PTI twine and some Scrap Floss to make it look like a bunch of heart balloons. I then added a sticker from SRM from their mini set of Love. I just love simple cards like this!
I have many projects going on right now that I am surprised I can find my chair in my room! Lol! I am excited to be doing it but these projects are out of my comfort zone. However, it's good to try! I will be able to post when it is all done! Thanks so much for stopping by and taking a peek!

Flourishes FTTC155

Hi again!!

I am up and running finally and it took an Army to figure out our technology issues!! But on the positive side, I am posting today! : )

Today's post is for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge of incorporating birds into your creation.  I also combined this challenge with Mojo Monday's Sketch 227 to make thinking of layout easier.

I am not normally a bird person in respect of having items to create with on hand.  But I did have some Basic Grey dp of Kissing Booth on hand that had birds! So I got lucky! For the main image, I used Flourishes Rose stamp from the set A Year in Flowers 2.  I colored it in using Copics along with ShinHan Art markers.  I used MFT's Perfect Panels in Cream to stamp the image on and used my Spellbinder dies to cut it out.  I then sponged the edges using Distress Ink in Antique Linen and finished it off with some pearls.  I sewed my panels of Kissing Booth and popped up the main image along with a bird I cut out and placed on the pink panel.  I then stamped my sentiment from SU! Fancy Flexible Phrases.  The ribbon lace is from my stash of scraps.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek!!! Have a great day!

We interrupt this broadcast...

Hi everyone!!

It's the weekend again, can you believe it? I think this week went by quickly!

Anyway, my internet and phone have been down since yesterday and a technician is finally coming out today to take a looksie. So, I won't be able to post my projects until this weekend hopefully, if this problem doesn't persist. Until then, I will be on the quiet end.
Thanks in advance and I hope you all have a wonderful Friday!!

Hambo Hoedown Wednesday

It's Wednesday and you know what that means! It's time for Hambo Hoedown

This week we are showing a little love with this darling digi of some yummy chocolates and the challenge is to use either buttons, brads, or ribbon on the card. These are not just any chocolate... It's chocolate to remind you that life is like this box of chocolate...(scroll down for the finish...) hee hee...

Well... I would say that this is spot on. I mean, how boring would life be if you didn't have those hidden nuts?! Lol!
For my card, I used this months sketch from A Sketch For You To Try colored in the main image with my Copics and used MME Lost and Found dp throughout. I popped up the image that was cut out using Spellbinders die. The side circles were punched out using my 1 1/4" circle punch and the center scallop circle was punched with my Paper Studio punch. The hearts were cut out using MFT Die-namics Hearts a plenty finished with a button and twine in the center.
For the inside, I used the same dp but used my Paper Studio heart punch to line the bottom and my MS edge punch as well.

Now we do hope you will be able to hoedown with us! Thanks for stopping by and taking peek! Have a Fantabulous day!

Super Easy Valentines using SRM Stickers

Happy Monday!! I hope you all had a great weekend and enjoyed the Super Bowl! What a game! I thought perhaps it was a little slow going with the Patriots poor defense, but the end was exciting!!

Today I am going to share with you some really easy Valentines using some stickers from SRM Designs. This is a fabulous company and they have a sticker for every occassion.

For this card, I punched out some hearts using a Paper Studio heart punch and layered it around the card.  I really wanted to make a tree of hearts, but I don't have a tree!! WHAT?! :) So, I opted for this and I like it! I finished it off with an SRM Sticker of Be Mine.

On some of the stickers, they are made with some of the colors going over where the cut line is.  That makes it perfect for re-use as a border which I did for the center square.  The red line is the over-run of color and then I added another sticker inside of the dotted heart.  I finished off the card punching out scallops on the bottom, adding some heart ribbon from Hambo Stamps, and a border sticker from SRM!! Here is the inside which I also used a sticker for the sentiment layered on top of cardstock.

These will most likely be the cards for the boys teachers to add to thier goodie bag.  Super easy!! Thanks so much for stopping by and taking a peek!

An Altered Note and A HAMBO SUPER BOWL SALE!

Happy Friday!!

I wanted to share with you a quick  project I made prior to leaving for CHA trying to get my feet wet in Altered Art.  I made an altered mini notepad using Tim Holtz stamps, ink, and findings. I cut my paper to fit inside a 4x3 notepad and perforated each page as well.

I cut up some chipboard to size and covered it with dp using Modge Podge. I then stamped with Tim Holtz set the bicycle, ticket, and sentiment with Distress Inks. I used the same Distress Inks and sponged it over the dp. I then took a scrap piece of dp and stamped a background, lightly wet it, curled the edges and then heat set it with my heat gun. I added a crown brad from Paper Studio, Tim Holtz gears and game spinners. For the spiral binding, I used Carla Crafts binding system and matching grey color coils.
It is a quick try in dabbling into this altered art schtuff. I will definitely have to make more items to get it down.

Now I mentioned a SALE! And who doesn't?! Hambo Stamps is having a Super Bowl sale!

Now this sale is a bargain so you don't want to wait... Everything on the sale page is 30% off in stock items AND you have the chance to win your order for FREE! Visit the Sale page Here for all the details.

I hope this jump started your game weekend! Have a great day and thanks so much for taking a peek!

CHA Paper Finds

Hi everyone!

I am back from CHA and had a wonderful time catching up with friends and seeing some of the great products getting ready to debut.   A couple days ago I had a spotlight on Grant Studios which I really enjoyed!  Now I have the rest of what I found that I really liked (and what I remembered to take a picture of!) but there are many products coming out that are fun!

I will start out with Heidi Grace's Clever Handmade.  Heidi Grace decided to take the plunge and market herself and her own line of products.  That line is Clever Handmade.  Here are her paper lines along with some cool rub ons that were made to be used so you can embroider or sew to make items with her line. Her lines are fun and peppy!

Next up is Echo Park.  Now, they are coming out with mini packs.  These are 12x12 paper packs but with 3 sheets of paper, double sided, so 6 patterns and a sheet of stickers.  Perfect for just scrapbooking a couple of things, a few cards, or my favorite, a holiday that you can do some projects and not have a ton left over! : )  Such as 4th of July....

The top row are your basic sports. Perfect for scrapping your kids teams!

4th of July mini pack

Echo Park also has some new lines from Laurie Whitlock called This & That coming out as well which are awesome! Why I didn't take a picture of them? I have no idea!! But you can head to thier site to take a peek!  I did take a picture of one new line that I really liked called Messages.  This CHA I was really drawn to a lot of vintage looks and I am not really a "vintagy" person.  But I think I may just start!! : )

Another great new set came from Cosmo Cricket.  Again, a bit on the vintagy look but I really liked it.

My final look at some goodies is from Ranger.  I love Ranger products and this one really stuck out and is really cool! It is called Studio 490.  They are 3-D alterable items to create items like these pictured.

That about sums up my quick CHA finds!! Many of these products start shipping out to stores in February so keep you eyes peeled at your lss or larger name stores!! Thanks for stopping by!!
